Originally from Long Island, New York, I opted for a liberal arts education at Beloit College in Wisconsin during the 1970s, majoring in art and theater. I completed graduate studies in design and photography at Virginia Commonwealth University before establishing my photography studio in Richmond in the mid-1980’s. I’ve enjoyed producing images around the world while happily remaining a Richmond, Virginia, based photographer ever since.
Over the course of my career, I've worked on a wide range of advertising, corporate, editorial and architectural assignments and earned my share of recognition in such places as PDN's Self-Promotion Awards competition, Print Magazine's Regional Design Annual and the Communication Arts Photography Annual. Portions of my large stock photo library are represented at Corbis and directly through my studio.
Among the varied commercial and stock photography jobs I've had the opportunity to produce, and the different clients I've had the good fortune to work with, colleges and universities definitely stand out. Location photography in a higher-education setting offers an interesting array of challenging and fast-paced creative, technical and logistical problem-solving situations. The photography I’ve produced has been satisfying from the standpoint of professional accomplishment and gratifying in the personal relationships that inevitably grow from working within the higher ed admisssions marketing and communications environment.
The portfolios on this site do a far better job than anything I could write to introduce you to the qualities, quirks and quarks of my photographic vision and experience. Please call or email me if you would like to know more or want to discuss a project or inquire about licensing an image.
Thanks for having a look.
